According to Samantha Taylor, Sunwing’s Chief Marketing Officer, Sunwing’s winter sun sales for 2021–2022 are already outpacing sales trends in 2019. Taylor made the statement following the announcement that Sunwing is planning a comeback to sun destinations, with flights scheduled to begin in late July or early August.
Sunwing is North America’s most extensive integrated travel firm that owns an airline, three tour operators, a holiday club, a retail chain, and a destination management firm. It provides more flights to the south than any other recreational airline with accessible direct services from airports around the country to significant sun locations in the USA, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America. With this scale, Sunwing can provide its customers with special discounts at top-ranking resorts in the most popular holiday locations, as well as cruise programs and seasonal local air service. In addition, customers of Sunwing benefit from the help of the company’s skilled destination consultants, who meet them upon arrival and guide them throughout their vacation adventure.
Starting July 30, 2021, Sunwing intends to restore partial service to selected sun destinations from Toronto and Montreal. This announcement comes only a day after the federal government announced a relaxation of travel restrictions for fully vaccinated Canadians and permanent residents, beginning July 5. As a part of relaxation, the government announced removing the quarantine and abolishing the COVID-19 test on day 8 of the quarantine.
Sunwing’s first itinerary comprises Cancun, Punta Cana, Varadero, and Montego Bay. According to Taylor, these places are the most-loved travel spots with Sunwing clients. She added that customer demand was a significant factor in selecting these initial locations, and Sunwing plans to add more flights and destinations soon to accommodate rising demand.

To meet customer demand, additional flights and itineraries may be introduced in the following weeks. Travelers may also expect new gateways and destinations during the fall/winter season, with Sunwing Airlines departing from different Canadian locations beginning in October 2021.
When asked if there has been an increase in calls from agents and customers since the federal government’s announcement, Taylor stated that the demand has been growing beyond their expectations. She believes that as Canadians gained confidence as vaccines were more readily available and border restrictions were relaxed, there was a significant rise in the number of inquiries.
She also stated that the second half of 2021 and the winter of 2022 would be an exciting period for consumers looking to escape the frigid Canadian winter months. She stated Sunwing is looking forward to welcoming its clients back to paradise.
Clients may travel with peace of mind knowing that the highest Canadian standards are in place during their whole holiday experience thanks to the company’s Safe with Sunwing promise. Under the supervision of world healthcare expert Medcan, Safe with Sunwing was established.
Customers who booked before July 5, 2021, also received complimentary COVID-19 Emergency Medical Insurance for departures through October 31, 2021.
When asked for advice from brokers on the speed of space selling in the following months, Taylor said that, according to Marketing statistics 2020, the trends of Sunwing’s winter sun sales for 2021 are already outpacing those of 2019. They expect the rapid sales of famous places and customer-loved resorts. She encouraged the agents not to be afraid to inform their consumers that the longer they wait, the less room and alternatives they will have. Booking is preferable to risking missing next winter.
