The new era of United Airlines is now emerging as its betting big on the airline industry’s future – and that’s good news for everyone from traveling public to aircraft manufacturers and other airlines.
On June 29th, 2021, United Airlines sent a message to the aviation industry stating, “The Pandemic Is Over.” Also, United sends messages with the biggest plane order. It would become the most significant order for airlines globally and offer about 25000 jobs annually since after the pandemic ravaged its business.
The most significant aircraft order is for 270 single-aisle Boeing and Airbus aircraft, the largest plane order in United company history and incomparable in the last 10 years. The order is a clear signal of hope that the dark days of decimated air travel are gone. As per the screening done by the Transportation Security Administration on Sunday, airline travel has reached the highest checkpoint volume since the pandemic began with covering 2,167,380 passenger traffic nationwide. During 2020, the capacity was just 5% compared to 2019, but it reached 79% capacity in the last week and continues.
The 270 narrow-body aircraft purchase is perhaps worth about $30 billion, including 200 Boeing 737 MAX and 70 Airbus A321neo aircraft. The airline also said that it would revamp the in-flight amenities of all its existing full-sized aircraft for better customer service and offer a new signature in-flight experience. The flight interior facilities include the seat-back entertainment systems on all seats, larger luggage bins, the fastest available WiFi in the industry, and added “economy plus” seats that support extra legroom.
The airline purchase of 737 MAX has been the biggest airline’s history ever since it was grounded in March 2019 due to two separate crashes that killed over 500 passengers and crew members.
The CEO of United Airlines, Scott Kirby, revealed that the airline is gaining more profit now for the first time since the pandemic began. On his social media, he declared, “This success is a result of our employee’s determination and their dedication to our customers – all under the toughest of circumstances.”
As for United Airlines, the CEO of United Airlines, Scott Kirby, said in an email, “We planned to turn our attention from managing the covid pandemic crisis and planning towards the bright future. These plans should revolutionize the experience of flying in the sky and to harness the power of building significant improvements in our customer experience. At the same time, this move marks the crucial role United plays in fueling the broader U.S. economy.”
United Airlines is an American airline, and its headquarters for airline carriers is based in Chicago. It serves regions including Asia, Latin America, North America, Europe, and the Caribbean. United Airlines has one of the largest widebody fleets in the world among the passenger airlines.
